Tips: Build College & Career Ready Practices

We know that the spring is a very busy time of year in schools as you prepare for everything from high stakes testing to graduation. At Classworks, we are always looking for fun and exciting ways that teachers around the country are using Classworks to help students be more College and Career Ready (CCR). Here are just a few ideas we’ve heard from you:

CCR Capacity: Demonstrate Independence
  • Student as teacher: Students are assigned skills where they preview/study the mini lesson and use the mini lesson to “teach” the class. You can use our new Practice Unit Launcher to make launching the lesson easy and project onto an interactive whiteboard to make the lesson truly pop!
  • Students use My Overall Results report (found on the student page) to determine their area of focus and review throughout the year, allowing them to truly take charge of their learning.
CCR Capacity: Comprehend as Well as Critique
  • Based upon the CCR Rubrics (included in the Classworks projects) students self-assess and have the opportunity to assess peers on project presentations.
CCR Capacity: Reason Abstractly and Quantitatively
  • The teacher introduces a new skill utilizing Classworks whole group or small group and has students use slates (mini marker boards) to model thinking as they work through the mini lesson and activities together.
These are just a few ways you can use Classworks to build capacity with CCR practices. How are you using Classworks to help students become College and Career ready?
